MUSIC AT KSCC
Our Music Director is John Saxon, who has led our traditional and contemporary music teams for many years. John's background is in choral music, but his talents range widely. He plays the guitar and the keyboard, and arranges all our digital music too.
Our Principal Accompanist is Barbara Wilson, who has played our organ (recently replaced by a digital piano) since 1992. She has played a major role in the diversification of our musical styles over the past dozen or more years.
The sanctuary choir leads the singing in our 10:00 a.m. service on Sundays, and rehearses on Wednesday evenings. They present special programs (cantatas) at Christmas and Easter, and put on a lively and humorous musical evening, known as Choir Follies, in the summer. New voices are always welcome: just speak to John or show up at 7:30 p.m. any Wednesday.
Our Praise Team consists of four singers, digital piano, base guitar and drums, with other live instruments and recorded extras added from time to time. The Lighthouse Praise Team typically rehearses on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m., and provides lively, spiritual opening music for the 10:00 a.m. service each Sunday. Additional members are always welcome.
We also have a three octave Bell Choir, which rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. The KSCC Coventant Bell Choir performs on special occasions during the 10:00 a.m. service. This ministry is led by Helen Dickensheets, who welcomes new ringers, with or without bell choir experience.
